Closed: In January 2015, due to heightened competition in the teen clothing sector, Wet Seal closed several stores despite earlier assurances to employees about their continued operation. That same month, the company filed for bankruptcy protection, leading to the closure of all its stores in 2017 and the termination of staff and employee contracts. Wet Seal now operates exclusively as an online retailer.
