Tips to Help You Save on Your Weekly Needs

Most major retailers run weekly deals and various other types of offers so that their customers can save. To help your savings add up, we have compiled a short list of tips to keep in mind every time you shop.

  • Weekly Ads

When it comes to groceries, weekly shopping sessions are required in order to get fresh food. That’s why many stores run weekly ads and offer different types of discounts regularly. So one of the best ways to save on the products you use and consume more frequently is to check your favorite store’s weekly circular.

Retailers such as Aldi, Family Dollar, Dollar General, CVS, Target, and Walmart run weekly deals, therefore, checking the latest offers is the first thing to do before shopping.

  • Coupons

Another easy way to save when stocking up on your needs is by using coupons. Many stores include coupons in their weekly ads or have a section dedicated entirely to such offers on their website. Even if they apply to selected merchandise or come with restrictions, such as the number of items you can buy using a certain coupon, they can still help your savings add up.

Since the purpose of using coupons is to save, one thing to keep in mind is to use those coupons that help you save on the products you really need and use. It might be tempting to purchase an item that is discounted when you apply a coupon, but if you don’t actually need that product, chances are that it may end up expiring without being used. So such an approach can do the opposite and make you waste money in the long run.

  • Loyalty and Rewards Programs

If there are some stores you prefer over the others and you often only shop at a few retailers, you might want to consider their loyalty programs if any. Such programs will help you save in a way or another every time you shop. For example, Target’s Circle Rewards program provides its members with access to exclusive deals, 5% off on their birthday, and other such perks.

  • Fresh versus frozen produce

While sometimes the only choice when it comes to produce is their frozen version, it is always best if you can shop for fresh, seasonal produce. Since fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables are available in plenty, they are also cheaper. It is thus best to go for the ones that are harvested locally and freshly picked if you want to benefit from their freshness and save as well.

Plus, if you want to save on your favorites in the long run as well, you can always stock up on the ones you like when they’re fresh and freeze them. You will thus get them for cheap, probably at the lowest price, but enjoy them even when their season is over.

  • Price Matching

Some retailers also offer price matching, which means that if you find a specific product at a lower price at another store, the retailer offering this deal will match or adjust the price on that particular product. The policy varies from one store to another, so make sure to check it to find out the exact details.

  • Sale and Clearance Sections

Several major retailers and even smaller ones feature sale and clearance sections on their websites. So another way to save is to check these sections to see if the products included in your shopping list are discounted.

As we’ve said above, it might be tempting to buy items on sale just because they are cheaper and they might come in handy, but even if their price is significantly lower, it is always best to stick to the products you actually need and use in order to avoid waste of all kinds.

  • Store Apps

Using a store’s app may also help your savings add up. Thanks to such apps, you will not only have access to the store’s weekly ad, coupons, and the various deals it runs, but you can also add new savings to all that. For example, select stores, such as Dillons, offer cash-back, which is similar to coupons only that money is added to your shopper’s card.
